BudgetDecoded does one thing: show what travel actually costs, country by country, with sources, updated monthly. No "this destination is magical" filler. Budgets, pass math, and the cheapest way to do each thing, decoded from real prices, not guesswork.

Started with Japan. Expanding across Asia, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia are next, each getting the same treatment: real numbers, verified monthly, honest about when the paid option isn't worth it.

BudgetDecoded is written by John Arce, a growth marketer and affiliate publisher based in the Philippines.

How we make money (full disclosure)

We are a Klook affiliate (partner ID 126070) and GetYourGuide affiliate (partner ID BVJLJH2). When you book an activity, ticket, or pass through a link on this site, we earn a commission. The price you pay does not change. Prices from non-USD providers are converted to USD using a monthly reference rate; see the European Central Bank's reference rate as of 2026-07-02.

Rules we hold ourselves to:

• We show real prices from multiple providers, no hidden markup, and say when one isn't the cheapest.
• Prices are re-verified monthly. Every guide shows its "last updated" date.
• Free alternatives are always listed alongside paid activities.
